New Zealanders Jonathan Wyatt and Anna Frost have been crowned world mountain running Grand Prix champions in Slovenia.
In the final race of the seven-event Grand Prix series, the 29th Smarna Gora, Wyatt finished fourth but had amassed sufficient points over the series to secure the win. He scored 394 points to beat Marco Gaiardo of Italy by 44 points and the final race winner Mitja Kosovelj of Slovenia who finished with 297 points.
Kosovelj covered the 9km ascending 710m and descending 350m in 40m 22s, with Wyatt recording 41m 42s.
Frost, suffering from a slight throat infection, could manage only eighth in the race, however with her total points of 315 she ran out the Grand Prix women's winner beating Kosovelj's sister, Mateja, by 23 points. Andrea Mayr of Austria won the women's race in 45m 24s.
