Russian Valeriy Borchin confirmed his status as the world's best 20km race walker with victory at the athletics world championships today.
On a humid, overcast morning in Daegu, Borchin took the lead with 6km to go and powered away to win in one hour 19 minutes and 56 seconds.
Fellow Russian Vladimir Kanaykin was second in 1:20:27 and Luis Fernando Lopez of Colombia was third in 1:20:38.
Both Borchin - who entered the championships as the reigning world and Olympic champion - and Kanaykin have returned to the sport after serving drugs bans.
