New Zealand athletics promoters John Davies and Dick Quax are scouring the world for a replacement top sprinter after the late withdrawal of Asian Games 100m champion Koji Ito from next week's international track and field series.
Ito, who ran 10s to win the Asian title last month, injured a knee earlier this week and is in hospital in Japan.
The shock loss of Ito comes on top of the withdrawal of American David Oaks just 24 hours earlier because of injury.
