Valerie Adams has continued her golden season by being named on the shortlist for the IAAF world athlete of the year award.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist in the shot put remained unbeaten through 2013, extending her winning run to 42 consecutive events, and won her fourth world championship in Russia in August.
As reward for her efforts, Adams has been included among 10 women on a 20-strong shortlist for the prize, chosen by a panel of athletics greats. A voting process will now see the nominees reduced to six, before the award is announced next month.
