A short history of Segway attacks

Usain Bolt has finally been bested - by a Segway.

Video footage of the legendary sprinter went viral after a cameraman on a Segway hit a metal railing and toppled into Bolt as he took his victory lap after winning the 200 meters at the world championships in Beijing.

This isn't the first time a rogue Segway has caused trouble in sport, in fact the odd invention is a serial offender.

Australian cricket commentator Ian Healy fell off a Segway at the MCG cricket ground in 2012, ploughing into the ground in a spectacular fashion after botching the dismount.

Ironically Healy was on the Segway in the first place to tease cameraman Joe Previtera about falling off a day earlier. Previtera was filming a game when the Segway hit a helmet, toppling him in front of tens of thousands of fans.

Previtera was unhurt but a little embarassed - previously he had told his workmates he would "never ever" crash the Segway. As one youtube commentor said, it was possibly the "most interesting thing to happen in cricket for a long time!"

A Segway isn't necessarily required to cause camera-related accidents in sport, as these videos show sometimes just filming the action is enough to put a cameraman in harm's way.
