Luke Marsh may go on to be a Black Cap like his hero Kane Williamson.

He may score test centuries and take five-wicket bags.

But what the 8-year-old from Dunedin is unlikely to ever do again on the cricket field is repeat the feat he achieved for his Kaikorai side on Friday night at Montecillo.

Luke, a year 5 pupil at Brockville School, bowled out six batsmen in one over.

Six balls, six wickets, all batsmen bowled.

You can not do any better than that. The opposition Taieri side lost two wickets in the first over and was out for one run after just two overs.

Luke said he just concentrated on getting the ball on the wickets.

"Two times the ball got stuck in the wickets and we had to get it out," he said.

His father, Tony, had told him to get three wickets to help him celebrate his birthday on Saturday but Luke - a right arm pace bowler - did that twice over.

Luke had been playing cricket for three years and played in the section three grade.

He did not have long to celebrate his efforts.

He had a representative trial yesterday and hoped to make the Dunedin year 5-6 representative side.

Judging by his efforts on Friday night, he may well be the first name picked.
