For those serious about fitness new GT3 smartwatch helps plan daily activity.
Keeping an eye on your health and fitness has never been easier with a Huawei Watch GT 3 smartwatch on your wrist.
Take your pick from the fashionable 42mm dial or the larger 46mm version – both feature wireless charging, a scratch-resistant screen, crystal clear display, and a variety of watch faces.
While the smaller version of the GT 3 includes all-day tracking, a seven-day battery life, and everything you'd expect from a smartwatch, the 46mm model is also for those who are serious about tracking their personal fitness.
The larger GT 3 features an industry-leading 14-day battery life and is like having your own personal trainer wherever you go. Not only does it keep you motivated when exercising, it is tough, and like its smaller brother is water resistant to 50m.
But there's no doubt the 46mm GT 3 is built for those who are focused on their fitness. Sensors in the base of the watch can measure your temperature, heart rate, assess your athletic ability, and provide a scientific and professional plan for your daily running and race preparation.
"Accurate heart rate monitoring technology is at the core of the GT 3," says Michael Liu, director of Huawei's New Zealand Device Business Department. "It provides all-day health management and individual scientific sports planning to help users develop the habit of self-discipline in exercising and active health management."
He says the GT 3 is the partner you can rely on for scientific sports and health management.
"Its training programme can be adjusted automatically and is based on course execution and data feedback, helping GT 3 owners improve their training efficiency and achieve athletic and fitness goals with ease," says Liu.
The GT 3 uses Huawei's Harmony operating system (OS) and features AI technology that monitors the user's running pace and distance covered.
"The GT 3 intelligently evaluates the training stress, the training load, recovery level and recovery heart rate, providing professional training advice to better plan the training intensity," says Liu.
But not everyone wants to run when it comes to exercising. Don't worry, the GT 3 supports more than 100 sports including hiking, swimming, mountain biking, snowboarding and skiing. The Huawei TruSport algorithm provides users with professional sports assessments and suggestions – no matter the activity.
"These help GT 3 owners exercise in a more scientific and efficient way and helps develop the habits of actively managed health," says Liu.
Out in the wild, the GT 3 has a built-in altitude barometer, which can warn of changes in the weather. Sunrise, sunset and phases of the moon are also clearly displayed.
Want music on the move? The GT 3 can store up to 500 songs and supports Bluetooth music playback – simply link it to your smartphone and use the watch to control what you hear. Once connected to your phone you can also read incoming messages on your GT 3.
Technology aside, both versions of the GT 3 feature a stylish design with a precision finish. The touch-sensitive screen melds perfectly with the stainless-steel case and a range of (optional) easily detachable straps means it can be worn anywhere. Choose a fluoroelastomer strap for sport, a leather one for the office, or make a statement with an eye-catching milanese strap.
"Both versions of the GT 3 have been designed with sportspeople and professional athletes front of mind," says Liu. "But the watch is a great all-rounder that's ideal for gaming, entertainment, work and play."
However, if you want a watch that's designed squarely for the dedicated runner, then the aptly named Huawei Watch GT Runner is worth considering.
Weighing just 38.5g (without strap) it barely registers on the wrist and features eight channel heart rate monitoring. In addition, tracking is via five satellite systems meaning pin-point GPS accuracy of your route.
The GT Runner includes a scientific training system, intelligent running plans and accurate heart rate values that – says Huawei– compares favourably with the gold standard in workout modes.
Like the larger GT 3, the GT Runner has up to two-weeks battery life and more than 100 sports modes.
The watch also features a running assistant so you can keep track of the distance covered and elapsed time – ideal for when taking part in a marathon. There's also a training planner with suggestions based on the runner's performance. The watch also 'speaks' telling athletes key facts about their run such as distance, time, and heart rate.
Athletics New Zealand Chief Executive Peter Pfitzinger says: "From grassroots through to elite competition, technology and innovation play an essential role in both the delivery of athletics and preparing our athletes to perform at their best.
"It is great to be working with Huawei New Zealand around the launch of their Huawei Watch GT series and to be able to introduce their latest technology in the Huawei Watch GT Runner to some of our senior athletes."
