Latest phone in the Nova series -the 5T-used to film elite fashion show gets remarkable results.
It's no surprise that the glitz and glamour of the recent New Zealand Fashion Week was captured on video: What is surprising is it was filmed not on a camera, but a phone.
The videographer for fashion magazine Viva produced footage from the prestigious annual event using the Nova 5T, the new flagship in the Huawei Nova smartphone series launched this month.
The camera, which boasts a bigger screen-to-body ratio than earlier Nova models – and creates what the company calls "next level videos" – produced remarkable results in the Fashion Week shoot in Auckland, Viva's managing editor Amanda Linnell says.
She says seven different videos were created all of which were "dynamic and professional in every way.
"Huawei sponsored the video series which meant our usual videographer used the phone to shoot the series instead of a video camera," Linnell says. "The crew followed Viva's roving reporters Rosie Herdman and Ashleigh Cometti as they interviewed designers, make-up artists, models and all the action from the runway." Launched in the New Zealand market on September 20, Gavin Cheng, Huawei New Zealand general manager says the Nova 5T offers a powerhouse of mobile photography and pushes smartphone design to new limits.
One of its key innovations is in hiding the front camera beneath the screen, meaning the Nova 5T 6.26" Punch full view screen retains its full integrity and revolutionises the user experience, Cheng says.
"The side-mounted fingerprint sensor enhances the design while instantly unlocking the phone for convenient, one-handed operation," he says. "The phone has four, rear-mounted artificial intelligent (AI) cameras to capture high-definition, ultra-wide angles, macro and bokeh (soft-out-of-focus style) photography."
But, as the Viva fashion team found, it has an amazing video function as well with rich, clear images and videos ranging from vast landscapes to breathtaking close-ups possible.
"It really is creating next-level videos," says Cheng. "Powerful photo/algorithims help users get high-resolution images and videos anytime and anywhere."
The phone also features a huge 48mp main camera which uses AI technology and 4-in-1 pixel fusion to create brighter, clearer photos. Cheng says the AI tech balances exposure and backlight while optimising backgrounds: "People will be astonished how great they look."
It also gets around the problem of slow charging. Its battery features a 22.5w supercharge system which can re-charge up to 50 per cent of the battery's life in 30 minutes.
Cheng says the phone enables people to create "stunning bokeh effects" as the bokeh camera is powered by the Kirin chipset's ISP real-time processing capability.
Nova 5T's 8 RAM powers multiple apps while it has up to 128gb of storage giving users space for all the songs, movies and apps they want and love. The Nova 5T also features a Kirin 980 7mm mobile AI chipset, an innovative leap in log-free, fluid user experiences. For more information on the Nova 5T go to: consumer.huawei.com
