Britomart may be known as the center of transport and business but tucked between the historic buildings and high rises are countless designer boutiques and top-notch eateries. So whether you're a foodie, a fashionista or a fan of a good farmers market, here's how to do your Saturday right in the precinct where work meets play.
Nothing beats the first flat white of the day and in Britomart you're spoilt for choice with some of the best cafes in the city. So stop by Espresso Workshop, L'Asseitte, the Store or Shaky Isles for your morning brew.
With coffee in hand, it's time to wander around the gem of Britomart, the La Cigale Markets. Situated in Takutai Square, there is something charmingly bizarre about the stacks of fresh produce and home-made delicacies nestled in the heart of the city. A favourite amongst Aucklanders, the lively market is best enjoyed at a slow amble, so take your time to wander around the artisanal offerings, grazing at tasters and chatting with stall owners.
After a few hours of strolling, nibbling and people watching, it's time for a bite of brunch. Lucky for you, just across the street is Super, the newest café to join the Britomart scene. With Whittakers chocolate granola, halloumi shakshuka, classic eggs benedict and fresh salads, Super has something to hit the spot.
Once your stomachs are full, take a moment to browse around the designer stores. Pick up some basics from AS colour and Huffer, splash out on active wear Lululemon and Nike or treat yourself to something fancy at Juliette Hogan, Ted Baker or Jo Malone.
A Saturday in Britomart wouldn't be complete without a cheeky drink, and the only thing Britomart takes more seriously than its coffee is its cocktails. So seriously in fact, that it even has a secret New York-style cocktail bar hidden away on Roukai Lane called 'Caretaker'.
For dinner, one really can't go past the much-adored Amano. Meaning both 'made by hand' and 'with love' this Italian bistro is true to its name, treating patrons to dishes upon dishes of freshly baked focaccia, homemade pasta and other European classics.
If you're smart enough to save a little space, head to Milse and polish off the night with any one of their beautiful ice-creams. An Instagram pic of your gelato against the Britomart Pavilion's fairy lights is almost mandatory.
