Pull up your boat, and "totally chill out".
That's the advice of real estate agent Rebecca Kristoffersen, who is selling a slice of island paradise near Nelson.
The Bayleys Motueka agent spoke to the Herald on Sunday this week about a property sure to make squished up Aucklanders envious - a 4.8 hectare, island home on Jackett Island.
The three-bedroom property is a two-minute water commute from Motueka Wharf, 46km northwest of Nelson, and has an asking price of $1.87 million. Two bedrooms at the home are in a separate wing, and one-bedroom beachside cottage is also part of the sale.
Riparian rights stretch along a kilometre of beachfront and there is four-bay barn-style shed for storing the four-wheeler.
"It's probably one of my favourite listings. I'd love to buy it," Kristoffersen said. " It's two minutes from town; you've got an exotic island, beautiful golden sand beach, stylish house. Town is so close and yet so far."
Triple sliders open to the north, east and south and its features include an outdoor bath sunken into one of the decks and surround-sound speakers installed in the lounge ceiling.
Views at the island escape, which has a capital value of $715,000, take in Tasman Bay and, by night, the city lights of Nelson.
A prospectus for the property described it as an "idyllic island lifestyle".
"The hustle and bustle of your busy life will fade like a dream as you boat across the Mariri Inlet and step on to your own beachfront. Breathe in the clean sea air and wander across the native-planted grounds to your tranquil home overlooking the ocean.
"You'll want to take action and make this property your 'weekend' getaway, every day."
The owners were selling so they could move on to another project, Kristoffersen added.
Inquiries had come mostly from Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown, but overseas-based Kiwis had also shown interest in the island retreat, she said.
