The Property Council is holding a two-hour seminar on May 24 in Auckland on the construction sector, which it says is at the epicentre of public policy debate.
"Three leading sector practitioners will provide their expertise and reflections about future issues affecting our industry," it said, inviting people to the aviation hangar at Motat.
Peter Gomm of Mainzeal Property and Construction will talk about the implications of changes to the Building Code, including seismic strengthening and earthquake standards, how that affects Wellington and the entry of overseas construction firms.
Graham Darlow of Fletcher Building will discuss the Christchurch recovery, the opportunities and challenges there, the implications of operating in a labour market defined by skill shortages and how to maintain forward infrastructure capital projects.
Chris Hunter of Hawkins Construction will report on challenges and opportunities in the Auckland market, infrastructure and planning and funding shortfalls, and alternative funding strategies.
