Not only does George Meyer appreciate everything about his two-bedroom unit in Grey Lynn's Ivory Apartments, it made enough of an impression on his sister that she also bought an apartment in the same freehold development.
George bought his apartment about four years ago.
The appeal lay in the complex being safe and secure, as well as the convenience of living so close to Ponsonby Rd and K Rd -- within walking distance of the many fabulous cafes, restaurants and bars -- and the new Countdown supermarket that has opened in the Vinegar Lane and Cider development.
Bus and train services are close by, and there is easy access on to the Northwestern and Southern motorways for commuting or weekend drives.
And, maintenance is minimal and doesn't eat into precious free time, so they can choose how they want to enjoy their days off.
A lift takes you to George's apartment, which faces north-west and has a balcony accessed from the living area through a sliding glass door.
Inside the apartment, the entry door opens to a carpeted hallway leading to the lounge. On the right side of the hallway is one carpeted bedroom and tiled en suite with shower and toilet. On the left is a second tiled bathroom with a laundry.
Then you have the lounge. Sharing the open plan space is the kitchen, with white stone benchtops, breakfast bar, and Elba and F&P appliances. The kitchen and lounge look out to the city views, including the Sky Tower, through the glass door and large windows to the balcony.
Off to the right is another bedroom, with windows overlooking the cityscape. The sun streams into this bedroom and the living area most of the day.
One secure carpark completes the package.
George has been living here but some of the other apartments are tenanted. A rent appraisal for this apartment suggests $640 to $670 a week (furnished) would be the going rate.
The reason George is selling his apartment is he wants to buy a larger property.
The property is suited to professional people and first-home buyers wanting to live close to the city for work and entertainment. It is also an ideal lock and leave city base or an investment.
