The Landing retail centre has landscaped gardens designed for al fresco dining.
Eighteen months after the first tenants opened their doors, Queenstown's The Landing shopping and commercial centre is now fully leased reflecting a booming Queenstown population and skyrocketing tourism numbers.
The Landing consists of 19 shops adjacent to Remarkables Park Town Centre's 55-plus businesses and Queenstown Airport, and forms a new commercial and retail hub for the Queenstown Lakes district.
The latest new businesses to join The Landing are vitamin, supplements and nutrition store MySupps. MySupps is a well-known franchise in the North Island with six stores, but the Queenstown store will be only the second in the South Island.
Owners Kaylam and Kasey Singh say New Zealanders are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of a wide range of health supplements, vitamins and protein products.
"A few years ago it might have only been regular gym users or dedicated athletes between the ages of 18 to 40 who were aware of the benefits of many of these products, and knew when and how to use them," Kaylam says.
"Now we find lots of older people coming to us for advice, and in Queenstown we're alking to runners, cyclists, skiers and those who just generally love the outdoors. We're getting a very good picture of what the market is looking for here as anyone's welcome to come in and ask lots of questions.
"We work closely with a New Zealand doctor who makes many of these products. We're very careful to only stock products that are tested and certified and our motto is 'to give the best advice for the best life, with products at the best price'."
Ex-dairy farmer Kaylam says they're happy to order any products for people who come in and ask. "We work very closely with our supplier who knows everything there is to know - from pre-workout supplements to weight loss products, or those that will supplement depleting mineral levels as people age."
Opening its doors in September will be Outdoor Concepts, New Zealand specialists in premium outdoor heating and barbeques, and indoor fireplaces. The firm was established over 15 years ago in Parnell, Auckland, and will also bring European home appliance specialists Kouzina to Queenstown as part of its store.
Outdoor Concepts director Tim Hardley says The Landing and its associated businesses are "a really good fit" for his business.
"The Landing is a place where growth and development are happening and there's a good feel here," he says.
"We're bringing some huge international brands to Queenstown including Weber barbecues, the world's number one brand; Heat & Glo, the biggest fireplace producer in the world, and Infratech outdoor electric heating."
Other innovative brands supplied by Outdoor Concepts include Sebios garden wood fireplaces, constructed in Corten steel, and DCS Grills, renowned for their higher burn power and ability to reach intense searing temperatures far outside the realm of ordinary BBQ's.
Hardley is promising cooking demonstrations outside the store on spring and summer weekends, and plans to work closely with nearby The Landing meat supplier Neat Meat.
Kouzina Appliances will showcase some of the world's leading kitchen appliances, including big name brands Miele, Bosch, Gaggenau, Sub-Zero and Wolf.
Other businesses already established at The Landing include Fuji Xerox New Zealand, part of the global Xerox and Fuji Film group of companies, and household names such as Repco, House of Travel and Super Liquor.
Other tenants include a range of gift, furniture, homewares and fashion stores, as well as a hairdresser, café, restaurant, bakery, butcher and Asian grocery.
The Landing's was designed to have plenty of customer car parks with spacious green surrounds and relaxing gardens for al fresco dining amidst panoramic views of The Remarkables mountain range.
The Landing is close to a large indoor recreation centre, a walking and cycling track, and the newly-opened Ramada Hotel with another hotel expected to open also nearby in 2017. It will also be near the relocated Wakatipu High School opening at the beginning of 2018.
