A survey of residential property investment by the New Zealand Property Investors' Federation and the ANZ Bank has revealed some interesting information:
* New Zealand has about 300,000 landlords and that figure is growing as fewer people own their own homes
* Most respondents had at least six years' experience as property investors and 57% had been investing for more than 10 years
* Experienced investors are still buying, despite the market being high, and investors can still find good properties to meet their investment criteria
* Nearly two thirds of respondents said they intended to buy more property this year and only 4% said they planned to reduce their investments
* 63% said they were driven by a combination of income and capital gain, 26% said rental income and 11% said capital gain
* Nearly a quarter of respondents were under the age of 40
