A popular family suburb, Lynfield has houses in all the price ranges, from first-entry properties at $200,000 to the sought-after clifftop properties with water views across the Manukau Harbour priced from $500,000 to close to $1 million.
Lynfield is typical of Auckland's coastal suburbs, with astute local residents selling and trading up to settle in the more prestigious streets closer to the sea.
However, there is more to Lynfield than the sea views. Schooling, including primary and secondary, the golf course and good public transport are important features for buyers looking for a family-oriented base in a suburb with a sense of community.
The majority of homes in the Lynfield area sell in the $250,000 to $350,000 bracket, with the choice ranging from four-bedroom older homes to executive-style homes set in pockets of established trees.
New buyers come from a variety of places, depending on the price bracket into which they're buying. Most in the mid-$300,000s range and, at the top end, above $500,000 come from West Auckland. First-home buyers attracted by the affordable housing come from across Auckland.
