The two bedroom-unit Jenni Martha and her husband bought off the plans in the Prima section of the Sugartree apartment complex has served them well as they started their family.
The couple bought the apartment, between Nelson and Union streets, at the end of 2013, moving in when the building was completed in April 2015.
Prima was the first stage of the Sugartree complex made up of three apartment buildings, Prima, Centro and Altro.
The couple liked the location, says Jenni. "It is close to the city but not right in the centre. We can walk into the CBD and to Ponsonby, or take a bus."
They have also been enjoying the city and harbour views from the ninth level, one floor down from the top of the building.
"We face north and so, to the left, I can see the harbour bridge; and looking to the right is Sky City and the Sky Tower.
"That is particularly great on New Year's Eve when they have fireworks," says Jenni. "The position of the building is awesome."
The 70sq m (plus 8sq m of deck) apartment's entrance door opens to the tiled-floor kitchen with its Bosch appliances, blue feature splashback tiles and breakfast bar.
This kitchen shares the open-plan space with the carpeted lounge, which opens to the deck through stacking glass sliders.
Jenni says the deck is a nice space for enjoying a morning coffee or a barbecue later in the day.
On the left-hand side of the apartment are the tiled bathroom, second carpeted bedroom and then the master bedroom with its en suite.
The layout has worked well says Jenni. 'It's not a small apartment," she says. "It's nice to have two bedrooms and the bathrooms are a good size."
While the layout works well for this family, it could also lend itself to a flatting situation as the flatmate could have the second bedroom and bathroom.
Jenni says there is a range of ages and occupations among the other residents at the Prima. "A lot of owner-occupiers - people with children and retired."
The building, planned with the urban concept of live, work, play and relax, was designed specifically with owner occupiers in mind.
It is pet friendly, has soundproofing and for extra winter warmth or air conditioning in summer there are heat pumps such as the one in Jenni's lounge.
Jenni says now they have four-month-old twins, she and her husband have decided to sell.
