Labour's Housing spokesperson Phil Twyford has described the Prime Minister's latest comments on the Auckland housing crisis as bizarre.
"John Key is deep in denial. He must be one of the only people left who are not concerned about the risk of the market going bust and causing immense human and economic damage," said Twyford.
Prime Minister John Key claimed on Monday that the Auckland housing market was not overvalued and that high prices were the result of market forces. He did add however that prices were rising more rapidly than the Government would have liked.
Developers who have been sitting on Auckland land earmarked for fast-tracked housing were also warned to start building or lose their special privileges.
