Uninterrupted views across the harbour are just one part of the package in this waterfront home.
78H Greenslade Road, Raglan.
It wouldn't take too much deductive power to work out this waterfront home in Moonlight Bay was built by an arborist, given the extensive use of timber inside and out.
The house, which sprawls over five levels, is clad in rough-sawn weatherboards while inside there is native timber in the floors, joinery, walls and ceilings.
Vanessa, one of the family members selling the home, says it was built about 16 years ago by an arborist and came into her family two years later.
She says that not only is the home beautifully made but it has also been positioned to make the most of its waterfront location, being north-facing and sheltered from the prevailing wind.
``The house is right on the water and the views are uninterrupted,'' she says.
``There's nothing in front of it and there's going to be nothing in front of it. You can sit out on the deck and you just feel like there's no one else around.''
The hub of the home is the open plan living/dining/kitchen area which has polished wood floors and opens out to a large, partially covered deck with expansive views across the harbour.
The kitchen, like the bathrooms, has been recently updated and features a breakfast bar. The lounge area has a picture window with sweeping views of the harbour.
The dining room, on the uphill side of the house, opens to a garden that features natives, fruit trees and flowering plants.
Below the main living area is another lounge, which is carpeted. The double garage is tucked under the house on the side nearest the road. Upstairs from the main living area are the bedrooms - a group of three plus a bathroom and toilet on one level before some steps take you to a further bedroom on another level. From there, it's up to the roomy attic, which would be ideal for sleepovers.
The property used to have riparian rights but those were lost when the section was subdivided about three years ago. However, that hasn't altered the fact that you have access to a jetty to one side of the property and a beach to the other. Fish can still be caught off the jetty and kayaks launched to explore the nearby inlets.
Being on the waterfront means having front row seats when killer whales visit the harbour. ``They come right up close to the house when the tide is in.''
Vanessa says it will be difficult parting with the home.
``It's just spectacular, she says. ``The views are uninterrupted, it's private, it's warm, and because you're tucked away down off the road it's quiet. Apart from the odd plane going overhead or the odd boat going past, the only thing you hear is the fish jumping in the water and the birds singing.''
