Associate Commerce Minister Laila Harre is expected to give details on Friday of new legislation to protect construction contractors.
The legislation is a reaction to continued problems in the building industry and constant calls from the sector for new laws.
The scope of the legislation is expected to be revealed to invited guests at 2 pm on the ground floor at the AMP building site, on the corner of Quay St and Albert St in Auckland.

His replacement is Bayleys' financial controller, Jeff Davidson.
Division changes
The chief of Barfoot & Thompson Commercial, Chris Dunn, who got the division up and running six years ago, has left.
He will be setting up the property arm of a sharebroking business in Auckland, on the lookout for real estate worth between $400,000 and $1.5 million.
His replacement is Layne Harwood, who will move the business from Symonds St to Chancery Square in April.
Building for chop
The Department of Corrections has sold its former periodic detention centre at the intersection of Hopetoun St and Pitt St in Auckland.
The two-level concrete-block building, valued at about $1.7 million, was built between 1910 and 1919 and was once St Helen's Maternity Hospital.
A developer plans to demolish the building and build 40 terraced houses and some shops.
