When Vincent Kong and his wife, Hannah, saw this impressive home in a magazine, they fell in love with it but they had to wait until the original owner decided to sell it five years ago.
At 372sq m, the size of the Ron Seeto-designed house was definitely part ofits attraction. Built on three levels, it has a large double garage - reached internally, via elevator -- and copious storage space in the basement. On the next level are two generous bedrooms, an elegant marble-tiled bathroom, laundry and gym come media room. This is where the Kong children -- Raymond, 19, and Lydia, 14 -- would hang out, work out, or do their homework.
At mid-level is the main living and dining area, a huge, sunny, warm space with a view to Hobson Bay. It has a cosy gas fire which makes it feel inviting and convivial.
The kitchen is the ultimate in high-tech luxury. With high ceilings and bold red joinery it is an entertainer's dream and features built-in coffee maker, microwave and conventional ovens along with a double fridge. The whole space is flooded with natural light streaming through glass panels in the roof. To the left of the bench is the butler's pantry, with ample space for storage, a sink, dishwasher and wine fridge.
The kitchen opens on to the private courtyard garden which is where the Kong family loved to eat in summer. It's the perfect spot for a barbecue and boasts a gas outdoor fireplace. The louvred pergola roof is remote controlled.
Also on this level is a cosy family room, off which lies a neat little office where Vincent liked to work.
The bathroom on this floor has an interesting schist-stone effect on the walls and also has a part-glass ceiling.
Up a set of stairs comes the icing on the cake: a huge master suite with glorious views. It enjoys a capacious walk-in wardrobe and a magnificent part-glass bathroom where bathers can enjoy the glorious vista. There's even a cute rooftop garden.
Because the family has had to relocate to China for personal reasons, the house comes with an extensive array of quality chattels including all the kitchen appliances, washing machine and dryer.
With central heating, underfloor heating and two heat pumps along with the gas fireplace, the place is never cold and a central vacuum system makes housework easy.
The Kongs are sorry to be selling their dream home. "Both Raymond and Lydia cried to me to keep it," Vincent says.
