Rodney District Council has put on the market four strategic land holdings as part of their asset-sales programme, each site identified as surplus to requirements.
A former council works yard at 49 Tavern Rd, Silverdale, that has been tenanted by Downer EDI Works for the past few years, is being marketed for sale by tender, closing August 6, through Barry Masefield and Graeme Perigo of Barfoot & Thompson Commercial, Whangaparaoa, sole agent for the sale of all four council properties.
Masefield says the 9637sq m property with a 308sq m, seven-bay workshop would suit contractors due its infrastructure.
"Alternatively, as the property is elevated, has three road frontages, and is only two-to-three minutes to the motorway, it would appeal to firms requiring yards with exposure, such as timber and machinery merchants, or display businesses," Masefield says.
A second council property comprises a 4936sq m prime development site at 16 Wainui Rd, Silverdale. It offers developers an opportunity to buy land zoned mixed-business in Silverdale North that is only a stepping stone to the new Millwater residential subdivision, being developed by Fulton Hogan, which will include about 3500 homes, five schools and sports fields.
A corner site of level contour, it would be an ideal location for fast-food outlets requiring drive-through facilities or a retail/office business requiring exposure. It is opposite The Warehouse bulk retail development and adjoins Stella Maris Primary School.
In Whangaparaoa, a 7193sq m commercial-zoned site at 17 Link Cres sits behind The Warehouse adjoining the Pacific Plaza Shopping Centre and is being sold by tender, closing July 30.
"This third council site is elevated and has wide road frontage and would suit a variety of purposes including retail development or medical centres or motels of for education purposes," Perigo says. "It is the only business-zoned development site of any size left now on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula and it is expected to appeal to businesses wanting to relocate or get established in this rapidly growing area."
The fourth property runs between Whangaparaoa Rd and the Weiti River. The Rodney District Council bought the land for Whangaparaoa Rd widening and the Penlink road which will link the Whangaparaoa Peninsula with the SH1 motorway, reducing traffic times to Auckland City. Now 24.7 ha is surplus to requirements and is offered for tender, closing August 12.
Perigo says the land has grazing areas, bush blocks, Weiti River access and sea views.
