"That was the other thing I liked about this apartment over others. Because it is on the end of the building, we get extra windows so both bedrooms have windows that you don't get if you are in the middle of the apartment block. Also it comes with two car parks, side by side, and you don't always get two car parks."
Alisha lived here for four years, before renting it out. As you come in the apartment's front door, you have the hallway and directly on the left is the laundry behind a bifold pullout door. Next is the bathroom with shower and toilet. Opposite the bathroom, on the right side of the hallway, is the downstairs double bedroom. Further along the hallway opens to the open plan lounge with tiled kitchen on the left. From here, stairs go to the spacious upstairs bedroom.
There is also a small deck when you come in the front door. Alisha had pot plants out here but some other residents have a chair on theirs.
"You can see out to the west, the Waitakere ranges, it gets a lot of afternoon sun.
"I think this apartment is super-handy to everywhere, you can walk to Ponsonby and Kingsland. Basque Park is a half a minute's walk away which is great in the summer if you just wanted to be outside with a coffee."
Alisha's tenants have tended to be young professionals in their second or third year of working.
"We get $500 a week so I think it is a little bit out of students' league; it tends to be young professionals. It is very, very easy to get tenants.
"There are quite a few owner-occupiers; I think more owner-occupiers than tenants.
"And the site manager, Don, is great and very easy to get hold of. He has been there ever since I bought it and long before then."
Alisha and her partner are selling so they can renovate their Hillsborough home.
"I loved, loved, loved living in that apartment. I think I was 25 to almost 30 and it was such a great place to live.
"It is with a little bit of a heavy heart we are selling, but it feels like we really need to invest in our home and this is the easiest way to do it rather than topping up our mortgage."
