A new Colliers International service is providing an alternative to traditional bank funding by matching commercial property investors to development and investment opportunities.
The Capital Sourcing unit was established by Tim Lichtenstein, who has a track record in capital raising for commercial real estate assets.
He comes to the role from Colliers' Syndications team, which has been involved in more than $400m in capital raising for investment assets in New Zealand and Australia over the last four years.
Lichtenstein says NZ banks have been operating in a regulatory environment which in recent times has led to restricted lending parameters.
"While this has brought some challenges, it has also created opportunities for non-bank funding like the capital raised through our Capital Sourcing service," he says.
