"From a family perspective, the position is fantastic. Location, location, location is always critical," he says.
He also notes that the ground lease arrangement makes having an apartment on this prime waterfront site affordable. "The cost would be horrendous if the land was included."
The Point was one of the first complexes built at the Viaduct but more important, says Murray, is the apartment's superior quality. "The Point is talked about as the best build of all these apartments in the region."
Murray and Sue's children particularly enjoy staying here, biking over the bridge to Wynyard Quarter and dipping in the heated lap pool. "There's also the sauna and gym on site and we go out for coffees and breakfast. It is exciting here for the kids.
"It's also incredibly secure, you feel safe. And surprisingly quiet, we are on the fourth floor and we don't get the humdrum noise."
The 128 sq m apartment has the kitchen and one bedroom near the entrance, laundry and bathroom before double doors to the living space with French doors opening to the deck.
The master bedroom, with en suite, on the harbour side, also opens on to the deck.
"It's a large deck for an apartment and it looks north out over the Viaduct Basin.
"We can see the boats coming and going, and as far as the Wynyard Quarter, the harbour bridge, the Hilton and Devonport. We get incredible sunshine through to the early afternoon.
"And the deck is covered, so you can use it even when it's raining."
The apartment is for sale because Murray and Sue use it less than they used to. But Murray knows they will miss it.
