This Glendowie home has transformed from one that was unfinished for 30 years, while the previous owners lived in its basement level, to a luxuriously appointed contemporary home.
Developers Dawn and Chris Anderson saw potential in this long-unfinished 1970s home on one of Glendowie's most sought-after streets.
It was always intended to be spacious and premium -- but functioned as a one-bedroom, one-bathroom pad for about 30 years as it slowly progressed.
Dawn says: "We understand the guy building it was a commercial painter and as a result many things which were completed were done to a superior, commercial standard.
"For example the sub-floor is a massive concrete slab delivering excellent sound insulation between levels and the roof is commercial-grade ColorSteel, which is expensive."
Project manager Chris, who trained as a detail-orientated cabinetmaker, oversaw upgrading and modernising the exterior and gutting and rebuilding the interior to a revised layout.
His interior-design-savvy wife Dawn says: "This is a great location and I believe if you are going to pay more than $2 million to live among the lovely homes here you deserve lots of special touches and added extras."
Premium copper cladding accenting a Remuera build inspired its use on the front of this home, highlighting the exterior of the stairwell.
The house is black-stained cedar above rendered concrete block.
Its corner site location helps flood the interior with light.
Being walking distance to Glendowie Park with its playground, the beach and Glendowie Primary School appeals to families so grounds are fully fenced.
A security camera watches front door arrivals and visitors can be buzzed in from upstairs.
Owners can enter using fingerprint recognition at the front door or via the internal-access, oversized double garage fronted by off-street parking.

"We've included high-tech features such as a great security system and a portable pager system allowing easy communication between floors. The sound system controlled by a central hub has ceiling speakers which continue out to the deck."
A sophisticated marble and granite floored foyer introduces Dawn's subtle black and white decor.
Lighting by ECC includes an impactful multi-pendant light in the stairwell to the upper level with views across to Half Moon Bay.
The lounge-kitchen-dining room comes with a striking and well-lit scullery/laundry.
Its gas fireplace ducts heat elsewhere. It opens to an entertainer's deck with plumbed-in gas and stairs down to the grounds.
Dawn's accomplished at creating spectacular kitchens and bathrooms.
The Carrara marble-topped kitchen island is teamed with predominantly Miele appliances including a plumbed in coffee machine, oven and steam oven.
She says: "We've chosen materials which are beautiful and practical such as this Junckers Danish smoked oak hardwood flooring which is hard as hell and has the colour infused all the way through."
Dawn says the well-appointed master suite can be shut off from the rest of the home.
"Parents need to be looked after; they pay the bills."
The master bedroom opening to a balcony has an auto-lit walk-through wardrobe to a polished en suite incorporating hexagonal marble mosaic tiles. The fourth bathroom near a rear bedroom is just as svelte with bathroom floors being marble.
