Greg Goldfinch and Andrew Hooper of Colliers' industrial team, were respectively the agency's first and second top brokers for 2009, completing 65 transactions during the year worth over $230 million. Among these were the $53 million sale and leaseback of Fisher & Paykel Appliances' building at 78 Springs Rd, East Tamaki; the $12 million sale of a warehouse and office property at 41 Nesdale Ave in Wiri for Goodman International; and the sale and leaseback of the Downer EDI Works depot at Penrose. Goldfinch has subsequently been promoted to lead Colliers' Highbrook office.
Fire station preserver
The landmark Ponsonby Fire Station building at 1 Williamson Ave has been sold for $752,000 plus GST at a yield of 5.2 per cent. Nigel McNeill of Bayleys Auckland, who negotiated the sale, says it was purchased by a private investor with a strong interest in preserving the building. The Williamson Café and Bar is on a six-year lease from 2006, with one six-year right of renewal.
Western warehouse
Glenda West of Ray White Commercial West Auckland has sold to Atina Investments, on behalf of a New Plymouth investor, a 1490sq m warehouse at 20 Bruce McLaren Rd, Henderson, for $600,000 representing an 8.66 per cent yield. There is a six-year lease in place to a light engineering/distribution company returning $52,000 per annum.
From house to lab
A 91sq m converted residential dwelling on a 485sq m freehold site at 10A Mitchell St in Tauranga was sold through by Brendon and Lynn Bradley of Bayleys Tauranga, for $350,000 at a 6.65 per cent yield after being put up for auction by the Tauranga District Council. The building was fully refurbished for Pathlab Bay of Plenty whose lease term of five years and 10 months began in August, with one eight-year right of renewal.
