One in nine women in New Zealand will experience Breast Cancer in her lifetime. It is the number one cancer killer of New Zealand women with more than 2600 cases diagnosed every year. And while the five year survival rate is now close to 85%, Kiwi families still lose more than 650 women to the disease annually.
October is Breast Cancer Action Month and today is the annual Pink Ribbon Appeal so we've turned our logo pink in support.
In today's Pink Ribbon Appeal over 6,000 volunteers will hit the streets donning their tiaras and angel wings, pink hats or wigs and selling pink ribbons in exchange for a gold coin donation.
The money raised will go towards breast cancer education programmes, investments in research and treatment and to supporting women living with life limiting cancer.
Look out for The Pink Army volunteers to make a donation or visit www.takeaction.org.nz for ways in which you can support The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation's cause.
