Wear the socks of a leader this Red Socks Day.
New Zealanders are once again being encouraged to wear the humble, but symbolic, 'socks of a leader' on 2 July in support of Sir Peter Blake Trust's annual Red Socks Day.
This year, the Trust continues to honour the legendary leadership skills of the late Sir Peter Blake demonstrated in his many yachting and environmental projects, and is asking New Zealanders to buy replicas of his 'lucky' red socks.
Trust general manager Vicki Watson says Red Socks Day is about raising awareness of the importance of leadership and finding tomorrow's leaders, and is the culmination of the Trust's Leadership Week.
"There is an amazing response to Red Socks Day from the public, particularly school children. When New Zealanders pull on their red socks, we want them to think about what leadership means.
Sir Peter Blake Trust red socks and lapel pins can be purchased for $2 each through the Trust website sirpeterblaketrust.org, and lapel pins can be purchased at any Westpac branch.
