Make-A-Wish New Zealand will be celebrating World Wish Day, an annual global observance where 36 other countries hold simultaneous celebrations across the world.
World Wish Day takes place on 29th April annually. To learn more on how you can support ake-A-Wish New Zealand please visit www.makeawish.org.nz and www.worldwishday.org
Make-A-Wish New Zealand grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses, and is the only charity in New Zealand to focus solely on wish granting. To commemorate World Wish Day this year, Make-A-Wish have organised a celebration in Christchurch to honour a dozen volunteers in the Canterbury region who have continued to work tirelessly on wishes for Christchurch kids amidst the many other demands on their time, due to the Christchurch earthquake.
The festivities will be taking place at Addington Raceway on Friday night, and as an acknowledgement of the occasion, it has been arranged that a race will be named "Make-A-Wish World Wish Day" on behalf of the volunteers.
"World Wish Day seemed like such an appropriate occasion to hold a celebration for volunteers in Christchurch, who have been very supportive and dedicated to our cause through thick and thin," says Scott Simpson, CEO of Make-A-Wish New Zealand.
"We are excited to be able to give something back to them, and World Wish Day is great for us, as a time of reflection and forward thinking to continue making Kiwi kids wishes come true."
