World Vision is amping up to 'Go hard out for the hungry' in this year's
40 Hour Famine.
Last year, 116,000 passionate Kiwis raised $2.4 million to help transform the lives of children and families in need. This year, World Vision has a goal to see $3.15 million dollar to help hungry communities in the developing world. Donate online today.
A targeted three-year partnership with World Vision food and nutrition projects in East Timor will see 40 Hour Famine funds transforming lives and giving children hope for a brighter future. Funds will help to practically address some of the root causes of hunger, including: training farmers in modern farming methods and food storage, improving access to health centres for malnourished children and helping communities start small businesses to reduce poverty.
World Vision New Zealand's 40 Hour campaign manager, Claire Keenan, said one of the key challenges of the 40 Hour Famine has always been going without food and this year is no exception. "We're constantly inspired by the enthusiasm and can-do attitude of young New Zealanders. By going without food for 40 hours, they will get a taste of what the world's poorest children and families face every day."
Since 1975, the World Vision 40 Hour Famine has raised close to $62 million, representing countless lives saved. World Vision works in nearly 100 countries, helping approximately 100 million people every year.
