Classic Hits: The return of fine jewellery

Quietly but surely, classic jewellery has made a comeback, shaking off its dusty, bourgeois connotations. Think of the single strand crystal necklaces at Rochas and Dries van Noten, or the 18ct gold necklaces with miniature LV trunk pendants sitting against wool sweaters at Louis Vuitton: these are pieces that won’t show up well in a street style or Instagram photo. A fob chain passed down from your grandmother, an engraved signet necklace from a friend, a tennis bracelet bought for a special occasion — fine jewellery is personal, sentimental and worn only for yourself.
