A front over the South Island moves northeast over the country today. Mean while another front moves onto the south of the South Island this evening and rapidly moves northwards over New Zealand tomorrow. This weekend, an unsettled westerly flow with embedded fronts and troughs affects New Zealand. On Monday, the flow turns southwest as a ridge of high pressure approaches the country from the Tasman Sea.
