Situation:

A subtropical low moves southwards and deepens over the North Island today, while a weakening front over the Tasman Sea approaches Fiordland. Tomorrow, the low system moves southeast over central New Zealand. On Friday, a broad trough over the North Island moves away to the east, while a front moves quickly over southern and central New Zealand. During Saturday, the front weakens as it moves over the North Island, followed by a ridge of high pressure. On Sunday, the ridge moves slowly over New Zealand, while a front approaches Fiordland late in the day.
