Rotorua visitors were stopped in their tracks as zombies old and young walked through the city on Saturday.
The Zombie Walk has been an annual fixture since 2010 and raises funds for the Rotorua branch of the Brain Injury Association. This year's funds are still being counted but organiser Layla Robinson said she hoped to crack the $10,000 mark.
More than 250 people got dressed up and made up for the main event, which started and finished at the Village Green.
Zombies from across New Zealand - including Auckland, Hamilton, Tokoroa, Tauranga and Wellington - were joined by visitors from the US, Brazil and the UK.
Ms Robinson said the highlight of the day was the Thriller dance, which was also an annual fixture at the event.
