KEY POINTS:
The lawyers for Ahmed Zaoui say they are ready for the hearing into his security risk certificate to begin, but are unhappy the date was chosen without any consultation.
The Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security has confirmed the hearing for the refugee will start next month.
Lawyer Deborah Manning says after years of waiting, Mr Zaoui can finally tell his story. She says the hearing is an opportunity to provide documentary evidence to the Inspector-General, submissions, Mr Zaoui's own evidence and evidence from character and expert witnesses.
However, Ms Manning does not believe she has been given satisfactory details of the allegations and information held by security services.
Ms Manning says Mr Zaoui is doing the best he can in what is a difficult situation, particularly given the government will not allow his family into the country, and the fact he is suffering from a health condition, which she will not elaborate on.
Mr Zaoui arrived in New Zealand in December 2002.
