KEY POINTS:
The Department of Labour is preparing advice for Immigration Minister David Cunliffe on whether Ahmed Zaoui's family should be allowed to come to New Zealand.
Mr Zaoui has been in New Zealand since 2003, when he arrived seeking refugee status, and is awaiting a review.
Duty Minister Rick Barker confirmed Mr Cunliffe received a request last month to allow Mr Zaoui's family to come to New Zealand to be with him.
The Department of Labour was preparing advice for the minister, who would then make a decision, he said.
The hearing to review the security risk certificate lodged against Mr Zaoui was due to be held last August but now is not expected to go ahead until at least June.
