KEY POINTS:
An unexpected mixed bag took to the runway in front of large adoring crowd at the Yvonne Bennetti show tonight.
Lashings of leather, lace, gold buttons and zips, followed by more leather, comprised the general gist of this seemingly biker chick-emulating show.
Leather (a slightly shiny and stiff version) was applied to everything from bomber jackets to narrow pants, skirts and back again. There was little of the usual über glamorous bling to be seen, apparently traded-in for a harder edge
There was a great leather highlight in the form of a bubble-style jacket, which was interesting and different.
Some glimmers of the Yvonne we all know appeared in classic embroidered and fur trimmed skirt-suits and a couple of cheeky and eye-poppingly bright orange and turquoise dresses. The longer dresses in the collection were classic and scintillatingly sexy.
However, a pastel collaboration encompassing a creamy mint coat, pale lilac top and cream shorts stumbled out of left field, as did a very polite (off the set of the Sound Of Music) frock, which tippy-toed along with the model holding a white fur hand-warmer.
There were various whoops of approval from the crowd, some from celebrity fans and others from the mouth of a drunken male audience member who was rather excited by some of the scantily dressed models.
