Six youths who might have thought a country town would be the ideal location to do burn-offs were swiftly brought down to earth after being told off by locals and having their car seized by police.
Riversdale Beach residents remonstrated with the youths, who are suspected of speeding over judder bars and conducting sustained loss of traction on Sunday morning.
Police were called in from Masterton and directed by locals to the surf life saving club where the youths were parked up.
After a short interview, police called for a tow truck, leaving the youngsters to contact mates to collect them.
The police officer at the scene said while the car had a current warrant and registration, the youths were allegedly "misbehaving, ripping up the road and sustained loss of traction".
