Two alleged teen hackers may have their day in court in Auckland next month.
The two, a 16-year-old Auckland youth and a 19-year-old Hamilton youth, were arrested yesterday and charged with hacking into cellphone voicemail systems.
The charges follow an incident earlier this month when a Telecom executive, senior police and some defence officials found their cellphone voicemail systems had been broken into.
The youths were charged with the unauthorised use of a computer and appeared in the Auckland Youth Court and the Hamilton District Court yesterday.
Police said the 16-year-old was remanded on bail to appear again in Auckland on June 2 and the 19-year-old was remanded on bail to appear again for a pre-depositions hearing in Hamilton on June 21. Police said they would be applying for the Hamilton hearing to be transferred to Auckland.
