Police say an alleged abduction attempt may have just been teenagers mucking around.
They were investigating an incident yesterday afternoon after a 10-year-old girl was approached by a carload of youths at Sandspit, northwest of Auckland.
Orewa Detective Brett Henshaw said the youths, who may have been drinking, called her over to the car but she refused and told her parents, who contacted police.
He said police searched for the car yesterday but did not have a clear description to go on.
