A Carterton youth doused himself in petrol and threatened to set himself on fire yesterday.
Fire chief Wayne Robinson said the fire brigade were called to an address to help police about 2pm yesterday.
"We were just there to assist if the person did set themselves on fire," he said.
The youth was not injured and police were dealing with the matter.
Police were not available to comment on the incident.
