A teenager facing a murder charge after he allegedly dropped a lump of concrete onto Auckland's southern motorway, faced another charge when he appeared in court today.
The 14-year-old, who cannot yet be named, had already been charged with murdering Taupo man Chris Currie, 20, on August 19.
The police allege the teenager threw an 8kg lump of concrete from a motorway overbridge. It went through the windscreen of Mr Currie's car, killing him instantly.
Today in Manukau Youth Court the youth faced an additional charge of endangering transport, which carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison.
That charge was laid after police alleged his actions endangered the lives of the three other occupants of the car, including Mr Currie's girlfriend, Helen McCreadie. All three were hurt in the incident.
The youth was remanded in custody to reappear on October 4 for a pre-depositions hearing.
