Youth on murder charge

A homicide investigation is under way in Timaru after a 30-year-old man died yesterday in hospital.

Mark Anthony Smith was allegedly assaulted in central Timaru early on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Marion Neill said a 17-year-old youth was charged with murder yesterday.

There will be a bail hearing today.
