KEY POINTS:
Youth offender Samuel Badawi, who escaped from Waikeria Prison nearly two weeks ago, has been caught.
He and fellow escapee David John Body, 18, (captured within four days) were accused of committing a burglary after their escape in which a car was taken along with several firearms.
The 17-year-old was arrested by Police in Palmerston North this afternoon, according to his mother Wendy Badawi.
She said Police had left a message on her answerphone to say her son's capture went without incident.
Badawi had close links to Palmerston North, with extended family on both sides living in the area.
Mrs Badawi said she had spoken to her son, who she believed was unarmed at the time.
She acknowledged he had got himself in to deeper trouble by escaping custody. She did not know when she would next see him.
