The teenager charged after a fatal stabbing in Avondale last weekend which left a youth dead will spend another night in police cells.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, appeared in Auckland Youth Court today but the court was told there were no beds in the Youth Justice Centre and he would have to spend another night in the police cells at Auckland central police station.
The youth cannot be sent to a remand prison.
He was charged with wounding another 16-year-old with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was also expected to be charged with the murder of Manaola Kaumeafaiva, 14, who died within minutes of being stabbed at a hip-hop dance competition at Avondale College.
