KEY POINTS:
A 21-year-old has admitted driving around Christchurch looking for a youth he later found and stabbed three times on a service station forecourt.
Callan Stacy Bucknell-Connor, a doormaker, today pleaded guilty in Christchurch District Court to a charge of wounding the 17-year-old with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded in custody for a pre-sentence report, victim impact report, and sentencing on March 10.
Bucknell-Connor was due to appear today to apply for release on bail, after the police had made witness statements available to the judge.
But instead, defence counsel David Ruth applied for permission for him to plead guilty to the indictable charge.
It is understood the incident arose from an exchange of text messages.
Police prosecutor Todd Nicholls said that on February 2, Bucknell-Connor had told his associate that he was "going to stab a guy".
The associate drove the car around Christchurch looking for the victim and about 1am next morning they saw him standing on the forecourt of a Bealey Avenue service station.
Bucknell-Connor stabbed him three times with a knife and the victim was taken to Christchurch Hospital for emergency surgery.
