A 17-year-old Feilding boy has died in hospital overnight after being injured a car crash in Palmerston North on Saturday.
The teenager was a passenger in a Nissan Sylvia which lost control on John F Kennedy Drive just before midnight and collided with a Toyota Hilux, said central districts police communications manager Kim Perks.
The driver of the Nissan was in a serious condition in hospital.
Police were still investigating the crash and it was too early to determine the cause or whether charges would be laid, Ms Perks said.
The youth's death lifts the weekend road toll to two.
A man died after he crashed into a fence in Otara, south Auckland, yesterday afternoon. Police said they believed the man had suffered a heart attack which caused him to crash.
