KEY POINTS:
So, finally, after 31 years it was goodbye Mike Baldwin.
Fans were left in a state of mourning last night as Coronation Street's resident philanderer exited the British soap.
Played by actor Johnny Briggs, Baldwin first appeared on the show in 1976.

Favourite Mike moment: When arch-enemies Mike and Ken, those aging and unlikely sex gods, were locked in a room together during a bonkers hostage drama at the supermarket. Anyone who had ever scoffed (almost everyone) at whether the two of them put together made even half a decent actor, had to eat their words.
This was a great Mike moment; a great Corrie moment. Just two men in a room, facing each other and the fact that they were a pair of sad, silly old duffers who had spent their years fighting over... Deirdre.
To have Mike dying in Ken's arms was the perfect end.

You could not get a better Mike Baldwin scene than when he was in the factory sparing with the likes of Janice Battersby; employment relations over here would have had a field day the number of times he has sacked them just because they took too long in the loo or in making a cup of tea. He has owned that factory for the best part of 30yrs, it has been burnt down numerous times, the factory door looks like it is held together with a paper clip and yet he still lived the life of Riley, what a laugh, and it is all real, isnt it?
