Congratulations Team New Zealand! Very exciting how you were able to command and control in all of the varied conditions of the 5 LVC races. Breath-taking to watch the team's confident unity and precision. A surgically perfect execution. Awesome!
Max Peach
I have friends (a family of 4 with kids 12 and 14-years-old on board) currently sailing their 50 foot yacht on the longest leg of their round the world trip. Currently they are between the Galapagos Islands and French Polynesia. They have been desperate for news of NZ team's progress and I have been sending off emails regularly to keep them up to date. The news of the 5 wins have been a great boost to their spirits on this very tiring leg of the trip. Well done Team NZ.
Ann Clark
I'm not at all a yachty but seeing Team New Zealand winning this morning was a fabulous result. Well done to a bunch of fantastically dedicated men. I would love to say well done New Zealand, however I didn't help win the race, the men on board did, and the acolade goes to all of them. Well done and congratulations.
Sean and Sharon Cody (Fiji)
We are emailing from Savusavu Fiji Islands where we live on our yacht. We sailed to New Zealand last America's Cup to support Team New Zealand. We have never given up on your boys. We are Canadians. We have our Loyal flag up on our boat and have had it there since the start of the LV Cup.
We just want to say we think Team New Zealand is great and are supporting you all the way. Good luck for the next race and all the best to each and everyone of the team, the management and the families and friends that support you. Go the black boat!
Borneo Malaysia
I am an Australian currently living here in Borneo Malaysia and I have to say I couldn't be prouder of this win if I were a Kiwi myself! When I saw the previous captain (Russell something) jump ship and betray his country and his honour for a pocket full of gold, I just couldn't believe it. But as you guys say over there sweeeeeet!
Rochelle (Auckland)
Congrats to Team New Zealand, awesome 5-0 win. Rest up, take care and we will be looking forward to the America's Cup regatta. Best of luck to you all. "Lets bring it home!"
Jonesy (Nelson)
Grant Dalton is showing his experience in true fashion. It's great that Dean and his crew have taken his experience on board and it shows in the results. I'm keeping up on it all from South Korea and not only proud to be a Kiwi, but very proud of Team New Zealand and the crew.
Bev & Noel (Florida)
Congratulations to Team New Zealand. We have been following the racing from here in Florida and the outcome is fantastic. We hope the good form continues into the challenge and the previous result is reversed.
Chris (Gold Coast)
Huge congratulations to all the team. You guys rock! As a proud Kiwi living in Australia, where we have absolutely no news about the series. If they are not in, or not winning, an event we hear nothing. The NZ Herald is our life saviour if we want any news outside of here. You guys trained well, kept your cool, kept your eye on the goal and did not get distracted. I know you will do the same in the cup series. Don't celebrate too much yet, head down, take each day at a time and let's get that cup back where it belongs - Auckland. It was good to see the Government do one thing right and support the challenge. Let's hope the next government does the same, not just once but on-going. They should have an annual budget to keep the team and the cup alive for ever. Go Kiwi's go. We are praying for even better results, more speed, no gear failure, no damage, no sickness or accidents. Keep strong you have a huge support team following you. God bless.
Sleepy
Congrats Emirates Team NZ. On the 23rd of June, for a possible 5 to 10 days, the sleep deprivation of 4 million plus people will be a small price to pay to watch you race Alingi. It will be a sizzler. Go hard boys.
Harry
Bring it home Team NZ, we're with you all the way!
Invercargill
Congratulations guys and team for your superb win. We as a nation are proud of your efforts whatever happens. God's blessing for the next leg of your journey.
Gissing Family (Christchurch)
Just want to say how very, very proud of all the Emirates Team New Zealand crew on achieving such a wonderful victory. We know you will give it your all in the AC Final and we will be cheering you on from in front of our TV every night.
Dennis
G'Day team! Congratulations on a very impressive run to the Cup. You have all stirred up a huge sense of pride within everyone here at home. Rest assured that we are all celebrating your performance. Keep going and bring it home.
Japan
Myself and my family were at the end of Devonport wharf when Dean and the crew came close by after losing to Alingi. Never forget the emotion of that day and use it to motivate you on the 24th.
JP
Awesome. We will support you regardless. You see, we believe in you and all the team. We are all Kiwis and so deeply proud of what you are doing. Blakie is looking down and smiling - and as he would say about the gear -check it and check it again. My final comment is focus, focus, focus. Give 'em heaps.
Imported (Hawaii, USA)
You guys rock! Go all the way and bring the Cup back home where it belongs. Everyone can see the fantastic team spirit amongst the crew and that is the leading edge!
Liana
Kia ora Team NZ. You guys are doing an awsome job. Bring the cup home where it belongs. All the best.
Monica Moore
Grant Dalton, congratulations to your team and support group. We are proud that you are New Zealanders. Have a good rest and good luck for the 23rd.
Krilly
Nice work guys! Just bloody awesome really! I think Grant Dalton should be the next Prime Minister of NZ.
Kay Bennett
Team NZ you are the best. Rock on kiwis you can take Alighini. God bless you all and bring the cup back home to New Zealand. Watched the last race and it made me proud to be a kiwi. Sock to Alighini you have all our support back home.
Texas Kiwi (Houston, USA)
5-0; Bring on the Swiss. Good on ya fellas! We are getting great coverage over here on a cable channel. Very nice considering the US are watching and not sailing! :-) Proud Texas Kiwi.
"Paris", (Cell Block E)
Boo hoo. I can't get to my TV in jail. But I, like, really wish you guys well. I'd love be at your party. It sounds hot.
Grant (Fiji and Dannevirke)
Congratulations to all the team, especially to Grant and Dean. Whatever you are all doing, keep it up and keep it a secret until after you have won the big one. Then please tell us all.
Cathy (Dubai)
Well done guys! Have been listening and watching on my laptop. Might see you in Valencia soon! You do us Kiwi's proud!
Meow
I'm Indian, but bloody well proud of the kiwi's. My hat's off to them. They rock and great for them drowning Luna Rossa.
Kiwis on tour (Denver)
Feeling very proud of our kiwi-led team doing the business in ValeNZia. We're watching every race live in the US on TV, at the very civilised time of 9:00 am Eastern time. All the best for the match and go hard - kia kaha!
Norfolk (Virginia, USA)
The Old Dominion University community is very proud of Terry Hutchinson and all the Emirates team. Go Kiwis!
Maksdaddy
Your Victory swells the heart of a Kiwi Patriot. Your grit determination has been marvellous and well deserved, way to go boy's. Sail Strong and True.
Ellen & Ray Daubney
We have watched every race and are so proud of you Team NZ. It has been so great to see you come back from your losses in the last America's Cup and we admire the attitude of the whole team especially believing in yourselves and also not believing that you were going to win even when you were 4 nil. Keep up the great work and take it to Alinghi. We are with you all the way.
Alex Lee
Every morning I am glued to the TV as I watch the races. I am so proud as a Kiwi to have Team NZ represent us and our dream. And even though another battle looms in the distance, I want to say that regardless of the outcome of the finals, you have done NZ proud by winning the Louis Vuitton Cup.
Taffy (Wellington)
If it's true that you would prefer a strong and consistant breeze, we would welcome you to race in Wellington - all you have to do is win the old Cup to receive the honour! Joking aside, well done, I feel like pulling on the old red socks again! Good luck for the rest of the regatta.
Daryl (Brunei)
Congratulations Team New Zealand. Just so you know that there are people all the way in the South East Asia hoping and backing that you will bring the Cup back to the City of Sails. Keep up the good work boys and you boys look really good out there.
Shirley (Vancouver, Canada)
Way to go Team New Zealand. Take the cup back to where it belongs - New Zealand!
Danny (Melbourne)
I thought the Italians were going to win the LV cup, after all, the black boat had 4 million of its proud citizens riding on it! Well done team New Zealand! To our Aussie friends, hope to see you at next regatta and thank you for your well wishes.
Barry
Go Team New Zealand. You have done us proud!
Helilicious (Wellington)
Staying up for about 15 late nights and only getting 4 hours sleep each night was worth it to see team NZ win. Good on you boys. They deserve more media attention than they are currently getting. I say good luck for the rest of it and let's bring the cup back to where it belongs.
Michelle
I think that Sir Peter Blake would be extremely proud of this fabulous team! Go Grant Dalton. Those things that others overlook can sometimes be the most important. Your dedication to the job, the team and the country has paid off. You must be very pleased.
Sandy Hyland
Excellent result boys - keep up the great sailing and we look forward to you returning to the "City of Sails" - home of the America's Cup. Team NZ 5 v Alinghi 0.
Proud Kiwi
Well done to the entire ETNZ for their fantastic win of the LV Cup. It will be wonderful to see the America's Cup being paraded up Queen Street in Auckland again. With seeing the win of the LV Cup bought back sad memories. I recalled seeing the late Peter Blake and Russell Coutts carrying the America's Cup from the Air New Zealand flight in 1995. It's sad to think of all that has happened since then. One hero is dead and the other is now viewed with scorn. These two guys helped put NZ on the yachting world map despite what happened between 1995 to 2003. So Team Barker, Dalton & co, bring home the Cup.
Hunter (Tauranga)
Absolutely magic result, it doesn't get much better than that! That was the entree, bring on the main course!
Mary M
I found my red socks and will wear them from now on. By the way I'm 86. Congratulations.
Daver (Mission Bay, Auckland)
Great work ETNZ! NZ is proud! NZL 92 is a sleek, mean sailing machine! Bring it on Alinghi! Let's take the Auld Mug back to the Hauraki Gulf! Good Luck!
Proud Kiwi (Perth, Australia)
I'm proud of being a Kiwi today! Well done to Grant Dalton, Dean Barker and the boys of Team NZ. It has been a hard road but one with the hard work. Good luck for the old mug!
Nancy (Te Atatu, Waitakere City)
Really marvellous. Congratulations.
AzHol
I hope they race the series in the Emirates where there can be a real show, instead of drabby Auckland.
Ravinder
We are all proud of you. The night time vigil was well worth it.
Wombles (Auckland)
Fantastic guys! It doesn't matter how small NZ is, it shows that we can do it and have a kiwi spirit. Bring the Cup home!
Ian
Well done Team NZ, now bring back the America's Cup oops, I mean New Zealand's Cup.
Bill (Perth)
Go Kiwis go. We have had two photos of the Cup racing in the West Australian paper and no coverage on TV this morning except 10 seconds on the Sunrise programe that you had won 5-0. Keep that black waka going guys.
Kiwis4usa (Antelope Valley, California)
We were there when the kiwis won in San Diego and we will be in Auckland when they defend the cup in 2011. Go Kiwis.
Hutchy (Melbourne)
I've been actively keeping an eye on the new competition this year. I now live in Melbourne and remember the last America's Cup very clearly. My job back then was PR for the Spanish America's Cup crew, meaning my job was to take out the wives of the crew on a flash launch so they could see their husbands race. They were knocked out quickly, but man what an amazing time. I wish the Team NZ congratulations so far, what a fantastic effort, and I hope they realise that the whole of NZ is wishing them good luck for the Cup.
Millsy (Sydney)
Godspeed for 'Godzone' in the America's Cup Final!
Mad Mongolian Kiwi (Inner Mongolia, China)
Up here in Northern China I can only listen via the computer,(no Video) or read the NZ herald. Great result fantastic, go for it and do the same to the Swiss. Here they had never heard of the America's Cup, but they have now. Keep up the good work, best of luck.
Bryan
You little beauties! Congrats on such an awesome display yachting. 5-0 is a whitewash in any sport. And thank you for now providing understanding to my bosses as to why I was so tired over the past few weeks! Bring that cup home boys, its ours!
Mark
Why should I be proud to be a Kiwi? After all it's a rich man's sport. Which needs a large amount of financial backing from rich companies. How did these companies get the money? By exploiting individual hard-working Kiwis. Rather than being a proud Kiwi,
should I be a proud to be exploited Kiwi?
Not a sailor
A totally inspiring 5-0 win, congratulations Team New Zealand. And thanks to the big sponsors, especially Toyota who have kept the faith since being part of the "Family of 5" way back when. Let's bring home the Auld Mug to a little country that understands the true pleasures of being out on the water.
Kiwi Nikki (Sydney)
Well done Team New Zealand (wish we had TV coverage in Sydney though).
