Players to leave out: Nonu because he only plays for himself and cant read the defence. Macdonald always been the choker of the Abs. John Afoa because the guy thinks hes a winger. he needs to stay with the fowards and do the fowards job first. Mauger passed his prime. I completely agree with the guys who are wondering why the heck McDonald appears to have a golden ticket from the AB selectors. When did he last have a spectacular game for the ABs? Also, agree with those who say pick players in their positions -- for the love of Pete, put Mils in at fullback. Playing people out of position helped lose us the last 2 world cups (always seems to happen at fullback and center). But the coaches love it because it makes them look real smart (i.e. "I could see he was really a centre, even though nobody else could.") No more of the "I like him too much to leave out of the side, but he's not the best in his position, so lets monkey around with the lineup so we can get them all on the field." I swear, sometimes you can just see the coaches out thinking themselves.

I simply don't have a clue on how to pick the next All Blacks. But all I want is a great team that will beat the daylight out of every other nation's rugby team on planet Earth. All the best of Kiwi luck.

Backs: Muliaina,MacDonald,Sivivatu,Howlett,R.Gear. Toeava, McAlister, Carter, Evans, C.Smith, Umaga Kelleher, Cowan, Senio
Forwards: Woodcock,Hayman,Mealamu,Oliver,Tialata,Flynn, Jack, Williams, Flavell, Robinson, McCaw, Collins, Sooalo, Lauaki, Masoe, Tuialii. Not much to change from the previous teams but I do have some concerns in the midfield and thats where the management need to convince Umaga to have a go at the World Cup. He defend better than any centres in NZ and also brings that toughness during close games. Plus he hardly lose the ball in contact. Mils can do the job as well, but he's the best fullback in NZ,try Evans there if Mils move up-good kicking, defence and attack.Luke must be just ahead of Mauger with kicking and defence although he organised the backline well. Alternative, Toeava.Carter stays there, swapping with Evans if needed. Not much to separate the halfbacks but I like the passing that Cowan does week in week out, similar to Senio[no floaters].Wings,Sivivatu is the first to pick then juggle with the other two or Rococoko if he finds his form.Sooalo,McCaw and Collins,Jack with Williams to lock the scrum then Woodcock,Hayman and Oliver to the forwards Mealamu, Tialata, Flavell, Lauaki, Kelleher, Evans, as impact is a concern to any team.Go the Men in Black.

This is easy, GH et al take note. This is the team you want on the day of the final. Starting 15: Mils, Rico, Sitiveni, Toeava, McAlister, Carter, Weepu, Rodney, Richie, Jerry, Jack, Robinson, Hayman, Oliver, Woodcock(15 best starters, solid and staunch). Bench: Cowan, Meleamu, Williams, Lauaki, Masoe(Messam, best ball player if we need to throw it round), Evans, Rokocoko.(7 best impact players we have). Take Flavell and make him prove his worth, Tuiali is worth taking to share the load during the lesser games, Conrad Smith should go cause he has a brain. Liam Messam should also go, and the rest dont really matter. Good luck NZ

I'm surprised people (including the Herald Sports editor!) are picking Liam Messam despite being already picked for the NZ Maori Squad today and therefore out of contention. My squad: Muliaina, MacDonald, Rokocoko, Gear, Sivivatu, Toeava, Smith, McAlister, Mauger, Evans, Carter, Leonard, Kelleher, Weepu.Lauaki, So'oialo, McCaw, Masoe, Collins, Flavell, Robinson, Jack, Williams, Dermondy, Tialata, Hayman, Woodcock, Mealamu, Oliver, Flynn Corey Jane will come close to selection but I believe he will be in the junior ABs this year.

Toeava, The next star of international rugby. No Macdonald, hes had his chance, let another shine. Mills is the best fullback in the world, no need for coverage, theres lots of cover in toeava/ howlett/ and evans and a tight contest between Leonard and Cowan both have taken their chances but if it comes down to it, Cowan will have inside running with experience and his superior defence. Lauaki a shoe-in with Braid challenging Masoe for that flankers birth. Tough calls on Kaino and Messam who will battle it out in New Zealand A and Maori teams respectively. Rocket man to edge out Gear who will also fight it out in NZ A colours. Taumoepeau/ Dermody and Afoa to fight out the last propping birth as I dont think Sommerville deserves a black jersey/ with maybe Dermody making the grade and Taumoepeau and Afoa in the As. all in all awesome black team, and bring on the world cup.
G (from Fiji)
Here's me pick: Backs: Mils Muliaina, Leon MacDonald, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Doug Howlett, Rico Gear, Isaia Toeava, Ma'a Nonu, Luke McAlister, Aaron Mauger, Daniel Carter, Nick Evans, Byron Kelleher, Piri Weepu, Joe Rokocoko.

Some parting shots: French are cowards for sending a weaker team. Isn't it mandatory for clubs to release players for internationals? AB's will do well in the tri-nations and still be the team to beat at the WC even though no NZ team is in the S14 final. Sometimes one needs to lose some in order to win some.

I'm picking Senio as the bolter for this World Cup. He had a tremendous game in the semis and seems to have regained the confidence he showed when at the Bay. Bullet pass is just what we need to set the backs alight! Toss up between Thorne, Kaino and Tuiali'i but I think in a World Cup Cauldron we'll call on the experience and cool head of the Thorne! The hard luck player will be Dougie! Great finisher but pitched against the other wings, lacks X factor. Sorry Dougie ... no room in the inn. The backline ... Mils, MacDonald, Sivivatu, Rocokoco (is that how you spell it),Gear, Toeava, Nonu, McAlister, Mauger, Carter, Evans, Kelleher, Weepu and Senio

All Blacks Squad for France Tour and the Tri Nations: Backs (15):
Muliaina, McDonald, Sivivatu, Gear, Howlett, McAlister, Mauger, C. Smith, Toeava, Nonu, Carter, Evans, Kelleher, Weepu, Cowan.
Forwards (15): So'oialo, Collins, McCaw, Masoe, Jack, Robinson, Flavell, A. Williams, Hayman, Woodcock, Tialata, Dermody, Mealamu, Oliver, Witcombe. Was orginally going to go for a 16F/14B split, but no extra cover needed in forwards and may need to accomodate Nonu, sadly. Lucky to get in: Nonu, rather not have him but may need the cover in centres, although Conrad and Mils should cover nicely.

I'm not so sure what the general public is so uptight about. So what if we didn't make the super 14 final - world cup year is about peaking at the right time. The All Blacks are very much working their way up (mainly due to the fact that they are nowhere near their best) whilst South Africa can't get much better!

Hi, I would most certainly settle for a 17/13 initial squad. this is what I think the selectors are hoping for, not necessarily what they would be forced to accept.
