Absolutly they should be banned. There is far too much sexual exploitation in our faces on a regular basis already. Women should not be seen as objects anymore, especially in this day and age.

I am very pleased that this has been brought to light as I have been complaining for a while now that Burger King are aiming solely at the male population for sales of their burgers. Their ads don't make me want to take my 9 year old daughter to buy their burgers. I might as well point out that it is the same for the Primo add that has the 3 girls bouncing on the balls, what does that have to do with flavoured milk? Nothing! I just want to point out that I am not like this for every ad containing barely clad women. I am aware that sex sells, the Tui adds for instance don't bother me. It's when they use half naked people to advertise things that kids are going to want that makes me mad.Kids are not kids for long enough these days with advertising like that being put on when children are watching TV.
Sean Jean
Hey, lets face it, sex does sell, but these advertisements were completely over the top. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind a bit of skin on TV, but Burger King was obviously pushing the boundaries a little too much just to get a few extra burger sales. I am a red blooded male, I know for a fact, most other males will disagree with me. When I think of burgers, I dont think of 1/2 naked women. When I think of 1/2 naked women, I go to the local video store, theres something some males may agree with me on =) All I can say is, Primo girls, look out!
Pauline
Not at all appropriate - what possible relationship is there between scantily clad females and Burger King fast food?
Horse lover
What fanatical, sexually-frustrated hypocrite is objecting to this fun ad! Try riding a horse in a bikini. The girls look great and the whole thing is tongue-in-cheek. Good on Burger King.
Brent
I am a 29 year old father with a 2 year old son and another child on the way. Sometimes we like to sit as a family and watch our favourite TV programmes together. I was horrified when the bikini girls were on tv in front of my young son. I think it is disgusting that a corporation as large as Burger King would go so low as those adverts. I appreciate McDonald's respect for children in their advertising and I will continue to eat there and avoid going to burger king, I say no thanks to Burger King and limit the R-rated advertising to your restaurants.
Glen
This country is becoming state controlled. The government believe they know what's best for us and are wanting to control what we eat, drink, watch on TV, save, bring up our children. The banning of advertisements from our TV is a joke. Why not let market forces decide if the advert stays or goes. If the public feels so strongly about the adverts then they will vote with their burger money. The company will go "thats not what the ad was supposed to do" and will can it themselves. Will they ban the Dan Carter jockey adverts? No way, he's an All Black and a male. There seems to be a reserve sexual discrimination going on here. We are not allowed to view women as sexual objects of desire yet its ok to view men in that way.
Tania (Birkdale)
I hate these ads - they are almost soft porn! My 8-year-old son found them quite disturbing and confusing, and I am sick and tired of seeing semi-naked women being used to sell unrelated products. Burger King should be ashamed of itself for on the one hand promoting an unrealistic image of women's bodies and emphasising sexualised behaviours, and on the other hand selling products that contribute to the nation's obesity epidemic. There is too much sexualisation of women's behaviour in advertising - if the eat something, it's sexualised, if they are in bed, it is sexualised. Impressionable youth are being harmed by a company that makes a lot of money out of them as well.Thank you - I needed a rant about this! Now, on to that terrible Telecom campaign

How many people complained? And do these same people complain about Dan Carter in his undies? I don't think so. We need to find more worthwhile causes to complain about. Like why are the Red Cross feeding kids in
Southside schools and why do the Starship childrens cancer ward have the begging bowl out.Bit less fashionable I think.
Matt
No, the bikini girls should not be banned. Without them, I can already feel my enthusiasm for Burger King waning. Perhaps a later time slot would be better?
Cleve Brown
If they ban the BK bikini girls, then why don't they ban Dan Carter in his underpants? It is the same thing right? Or do we have a kind of PC hypocrisy here.
Danial (Auckland)
Girls in bikinis are ok, so long as we see boys in speedos or g-strings too. There should be something for everyone.
Play fair
What's different about the Tui's beer commercial with the "gorgeous women? There is no consistency.Play fair!
Amused
"Won't somebody think of the children" for heavens sake? Hhow about teaching your children that television is not reality! Before we were in primary school my brother and I knew the Road Runner and Coyote was not real, and that the rules on TV are different from the real world. I find these ads cheesy but not offensive. The ads make it clear they are not to be taken seriously (or are you also worried about the presenters of big cheques getting a bad image?).And while teaching your children about reality versus make believe how about teaching them self respect so they are not compelledto blindly follow the herd because TV or fashion told them too.
XL Perv
So cheesey it was amusing. I loved it, and took no offense.
Megan Crocket
The ads were obviously done in "mockumentary" style so Burger King could get away with using sex to sell fast food. The ad objectifies women, and that's no joke.
Louise (Auckland)
I just think the ad is ridiculous; it is a desperate attempt to sell burgers using bikini clad woman. Have no idea what the 2 have in common!
Steve Croawell
What is happening to this happy go lucky country, As a man I feel my world is getting smaller .It is okay for Dan Carter to parade around in his underwear but not for these ladies to appear in their bathing customers. Where is the equality in that? If they have their way, soon there will be a ban on bikinis on the beach .When the ladies buy their bikinis they will find a label attached saying " To be worn in your own home only." So come guys rise up and tell these idiots to wake up and concentrate on something important like what actually is inside a politican's head. Should not take too long to figure that one out .
Greg (Auckland)
These should be banned, so that we cant be tempted to eat fast food: they should also ban half naked pictures of males too.
Mel England
The ads are funny and everytime they came on I would have a giggle to myself and my partner would just shake her head. The ads work, as everytime someone mentions the girls in bikinis on horses, voices pipe up saying "Burger King."
Bigmac
Absolutely not. The ad was great. Any fool can tell it is totally tongue in cheek. By having it banned, you have just handed Burger King a huge advertising boost.
There will be celebrations in BK headquarters tonight over this one.
Susan Peters
Thank goodness we don't have to see that silly ad anymore. Are those advetisers in a time warp or what!! That sort of stuff went out in the 80's. We have grown up since then. Can't see how it would entice me to buy a burger, more like booking a horse trek on the beach.
Michael
No. This is a great imaginative ad and we are not a Muslim country. It's the 21st century. Why can a couple of prudes set the rules for the rest of the country?
Paul H
Another PC nail in the coffin of fun and freedom in this country.
Nigel (Auckland)
nly a very warped mind could find these girls objectable!
NeillR
BK can do what they like, but they should know that I have stopped buying their products as a result of their "cheesy" ads. Thanks BK, you've done wonders for my waistline.
Lilia (Howick)
It does come across as exploitative. I don't see the connection between girls in bikinis and hamburgers. It's a ridiculous concept.
Yawn
How about considering the views of the majority rather than those of a few anal retentives?
Steph
No, what's the difference between Burger King and the Toffee Pop ad. It's not like they are wearing nothing. People need to get a life and stop complaining or just turn it off, it's as easy as pushing a button.
Craig L
The Advertising Standards Complaints Board need to pull their heads in and realise this was just lighthearted entertainment. You see and hear a lot worse on TV shows like Friends, Two and a half men etc, this is just ridiculous. Have we become a nation of small mindedness and that every time the minority, and in this case it was only 8 complainants, complains we have to bow and scrape and apologise forever? Get over yourselves, if you don't like it change the channel, that's the beauty of remote control technology.
Nel (Auckland)
I also believe this advertisement of BK girls graving for BK burgers on their horse backs or at work is a bit too much..I am a mother of 3 year old and I dont want my daughter to see such advertisement and ask me questions as to what these ladies doing on horse backs sharing a burger. I believe Burger King should change their ad which appeal to people not the ones which disgust people.
Alan (Auckland)
I am glad to hear that those adverts are to be taken off the air - they were blatantly using sex to sell burgers! I thought it was a stupid move anyway as it would turn parents off and most of the female demographic and didn't work for me.. making women seem like stupid people that are only there for visual pleasure of men seems pretty low form of advertising to me.
Wgtn Boy
Doesn't Xena our warrior Princess ride on horses in her bikini? I haven't yet seen the fall out from that yet.. all these years later. What's the difference?, too many stiffs!
Luke Mason
No they shouldn't be banned. They looked pretty good to me, people need to lighten up! They are meant to be tongue in cheek. There is more offensive adds than that.
Mark G
Old people! ill be glad when they are gone as this world has no need for them, It's an advert people!Commentor Comment Here
Peter
Why did this lady not complain when she saw the ad with the guy who walks in his undies in the ice cream Trumpet ad?
Jo
Perhaps you should be more concerned with why a 3 year old was watching Home and Away in the first place. Surely if these adverts are placed in a time slot suitable for more mature audiences, it is clear and obvious that they are designed as a spoof, and would be interpreted that way. If they are being placed in children's slots, then complaints should be upheld, and the adverts shifted.I am sure BK would also have questions for Y&R if this was the case.
PC gone too far (Wellington)
My wife and I do not find the images from Burger Kings latest advert offensive. It's meant to be fun and humorous, and it is. I do not want my children growing up in bubble-wrap. It seems that anything that makes one think it being censored.
Auckland
Finally, I think that the advertisement really crossed the line. I'm happy to see it being cleaned up. Well done. If I had young children I wouldn't begin to understand how to block them from viewing it. Well done.
Wellington Dad
Ban the BK girls ad.
It is gratuitous and not the sort of imagery or role modelling that I would like my daughter exposed to.
James
What about the Toffee Pops ads that used to be on TV with Carlos Spencer - how was that any different? There is plenty of advertising aimed at women in NZ showing men bodies etc and that is okay so why isn't this?
Amanda, Miyazaki
What do flaccid, fatty burgers have to do with young half-naked women? Nothing. It's just kind of tacky and annoying that the female body is still seen as an acceptable marketing tool for completely unrelated products. I fail to see the burger company's idea of "humour" and instead see a bunch of lecherous old guys left in charge who are completely out of touch and oblivious to their customer base. Way to isolate 50 per cent of the population and treat the other like they're too stupid to see through such lazy marketing ploys.
Margz Auck CBD
My work colleagues and I have had great conversation in regards to the B.K bikini girls and the way that they portray themselves in order to advertise a flipping burger! Do the women 'really' have to wear bikinis?? I don't think so.. If McDonalds can achieve a successful advertising campaign in order to sell products without the exploitation of women, why can't Burger King?? This sickens me!
Zpete (Mt Wellington)
How small minded and stupid to complain about bikini clad girls in an ad for whatever. One sees females dressed with less at the beach and in parks everyday. Children of a young age would not even notice, or comment on the clothing, the burger would be their object of interest. Dumb woman to try and explain to young children. By the time the littlies of today grow up, nudity may possibly be more to the fore at beaches, pools etc, normal. Let them grow up with it, no need to draw their attention to it.
More than just a body
This advertisement takes the commercialisation of women to the extreme. As a young female, I am offended by the notion that a woman's worth lies only in her appearance and consequently her viability as a selling tool. Ads like this reinforce a dangerous precedent that we see all too often in today's society; not only does sex sell, but so does demeaning women.
Whangarei
I thought we had grown a little. Pretty pathetic really considering the number of mind numbing ads there are on TV.
Not a prude
People think it is tough explaining those adverts to a 3 year old..Try explaining them to a 12 year old girl who wants to act and dress like the bikini girls. Television has been very limited lately and finally we are getting back to normality. I dont think the ads are any worse than the usually fare offered on TV but as the parent of 3 tall attractive girls 10,12 & 14, I am concerned about the message being sent to them. Not to mention the message being sent to young boys. How disappointed they will be when they find out that not all girls are like the bikini girls.
